Our History

Formerly known as River of Dreams, Daring Adventures began in 1991 as a City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation program. When the city shuttered the adaptive recreation component in 2011, a group of committed volunteers saw its value and took on the responsibility to fundraise and continue the life-changing activities for this underserved population.

Over the past 25 years, Daring Adventures has taken more than 1,200 people whitewater rafting. Programs expanded to include adaptive hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing, kayaking, sled hockey and more. These events are possible due to Daring Adventures large variety of adaptive recreational equipment including bikes, sit skis, kayaks, etc.  Since branching out on its own from the City just four short years ago, the organization has grown three-fold. In 2015, we served more than 1500 participants, hosted 100+ activities and received 4500+ volunteer hours valued at over $100,000!
